From The Editor

I would like to give you a little background on who we are and why we started a barrel racing publication.

My family owns and operates the Rockin Horse Ranch Indoor Arena in Moriarty, New Mexico, where we produce monthly barrel races as well as train and sell barrel and rope horses. My parents Lonnie and Patty Wright and sisters, Tona Wright-Andrade, Koell Rios and Jana Wright, as well as my husband Kyle Segura and I have been involved with and competed in the rodeo and barrel racing industry for over 40 years.

Just recently my whole family was together for Tona's wedding. We were having lunch in Albuquerque and I was listening to my sisters complain about how they had missed a couple of barrel races because they had misplaced the flyer, or had not checked the associations web site. "It was a light bulb moment for me!"

My husband has worked in the publication business for more than four years. We considered starting a motor cross magazine a while back, but we thought, "what do we know about motor cross...nothing?" We are however part of the barrel racing industry and with Kyle's background in the business, I thought "why not!"

Why don't we create a publication just for Barrel Racers, that lists as many events going on across the west. A directory per say, that lists events and resutls in a regional format, as well as barrel racing products and services. We would also like to provide you with up to date information about what is going on in the barrel racing world. I feel that we have created a product that serves the purpose. We welcome your feedback. After you have read the paper, please feel free to email us with questions or comments. We hope that this paper becomes a reliable resource for you.

I would like to give a special thank you to all of my family and friends, for all their love and support.

From our barrel racing family to yours.

Sincerely,
Leona Segura
